November’s Service Project – Northern IL Food Bank

Two groups of Ladies and their gentlemen volunteered at the Northern IL Food Bank (NIFB) on November 8th and 17th. The first group helped pack 1,950 pounds of apples into 5 pound bags. It reportedly was a great workout!

The 2nd group packed 76 door dash orders with milk, chicken, apples and carrots and then, loaded them into the door dash cars as they arrived. A relatively new service, My Pantry Express is an online food pantry developed and operated by NIFB in collaboration with community partners. Individuals interested in shopping with My Pantry Express can visit the NIFB website to place an online grocery order for pick up or delivery at no charge.

Several Ladies Auxiliary members helped at the Pies by the Guys fundraiser. It is quite an operation starting at 6:30 am until 2 pm. About half of the pies went to other KOC councils – who were also there to lend a hand.

Donation in Memory of Cheryl and Sandy

In loving memory of Cheryl Balleto and Sandy Smith, a $300 donation was made to Lazarus House. This is the equivalent of a day of service for 2 shelter guests.

At Lazarus House, our mission is to offer guests connected to our communities who are homeless or in need hope for the future by providing safe shelter, food and education — tools for life. We strive to make certain that all who enter feel the love of Jesus.

$300 Donation to Corbella Clinic’s Material Assistance Fund

For many years the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary has supported Corbella Clinic with quarterly diaper donations and fleece blankets at Christmas.  Now that the clinic has changed their donation policy, we are pleased to make a $300 donation to the Material Assistance Fund.  This fund is used for durable items, like a car seat or towards a crib.

Corbella means ‘beautiful heart.’

Corbella Clinic is a pregnancy medical clinic that serves women and couples during and after an unexpected pregnancy. “We see beauty and strength in you, and we are here to empower you with information and support for making the right decisions for you.”

One of our main activities is supporting the Knights of Columbus in their endeavors. For the last two weekends in July, the Knights built a 2 car garage for St. John Neumann. Now, the ladies could have joined in with our hammers, but Doris and Caroline decides to bring lunch instead.
