Lazarus House’s New Microwave!

1000W Commercial Microwave

The Ladies Auxiliary donated the funds necessary to replace the Women & Children Day Center’s microwave that was moved into the Emergency Shelter.

Lazarus House

Their mission is to offer guests connected to our communities, who are homeless or in need, hope for the future by providing hospitality, food, safe shelter, and education — tools for life.  They give people a hand up, not a hand out, and strive to make certain that all who enter feel the love of Jesus.

Morning Hike at Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve

Four members took advantage of the beautiful weather on November 17, 2020, National Take a Hike Day, to explore and enjoy Johnson’s Mound loop trail.  This .9 mile trail is paved, has 91 feet elevation gain (the mound) and is rated easy.  While this setting is beautiful in Spring and Fall, it is equally as beautiful now as we begin Advent on Sunday, November 29th.

For you, O Lord, my soul in stillness waits,
Truly my hope is in you.

O Lord of Light, our only hope of glory,
Your radiance shines in all who look to you,
Come, light the hearts of all in dark and shadow. (Refrain)

O Spring of Joy, rain down upon our spirits,
Our thirsty hearts are yearning for your Word,
Come, make us whole, be comfort to our hearts. (Refrain)

O Root of Life, implant your seed within us,
And in your advent draw us all to you,
Our hope reborn in dying and in rising. (Refrain)

O Key of Knowledge, guide us in our pilgrimage,
We ever seek, yet unfulfilled remain,
Open to us the pathway of your peace. (Refrain)

Lyrics by Marty Haugen

$1,855 — Proceeds from our First Fall Flower Sale!

Thank you . . .

To the over 70 parishioners, community friends and volunteers.  We are pleased to split these proceeds 4 ways to help fund needed relief during the pandemic.

Pick-up day was a terrific day of friendly smiles (even though you couldn’t see them), nature’s beauty and a warm sunset.

Donation to St. John Neumann Fellowship

In March 2020, the Ladies Auxiliary contributed a new coffee urn and 2 utility/serving carts.  Little did we know the curtailment of fellowship due to Covid-19.

Fr. Peck wrote, “Both of these items will certainly help service the many events that take place here at the church.”  He thanked us for serving God and living the Gospel.

Welcome Back Home Fall Flower Sale 8/27-9/6/2020

If you are going to buy mums, why not buy them from us?  We are working with our Spring flower grower – quality you’ve come to expect.  In addition to mums, we are also offering Montauk Daisies.  These are late bloomers and will bring a sparkle to an otherwise drab fall garden with their crisp, white daisy-like blooms.  Cooler temperatures and warm soil, make Fall the best time to get this perennial established in your garden.

  • Click Here to Order directly from the on-line store
  • Order and pay on-line by Sunday, 9/6/2020
  • Contact free pick-up on Thursday, 9/17/2020 from 4-7pm

Spring Shred Day and Charity Garden Market canceled due to virus

Shred Day Fundraiser – April 25th moved to TBD Fall date.

Charity Garden Market – May 9th – It is with much regret that we’ve canceled our Charity Garden Market for 2020.  It was an agonizing decision for the Committee as flowers bring joy and beauty to our lives particularly during this unprecedented time.  We had hoped to continue with an on-line annuals purchase and pick-up/delivery, but that will not be possible.  For anyone that had already placed an on-line order, we have refunded your purchase.

May God bless our world, and each of you with healing and strength.
